I'm looking for information on my grandfather playing in the Nergo Leauge. I beleive he played for a team in Milwaukee,WI under the team name the "Pirates".
He passed away in June of 1980 and left behind 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. I'm not sure of the year he played, however I do remember Jet magazine had a picture of him on the "Celeberity Update" page.
I also recall the Chicago Defender doing an article on him. I tried to obtain information from these two resources but no luck.
If someone out there recalls my grandfather (Zemus "Zeke" Mack) please email me back with the information you've found.
My 13 year old daughter needs to complete a report on someone famous and why not have her do it on someone in her own family.

I am looking for information about a player whose name is Donald Whittington. He played for the Philadelphia Stars ,and also the Memphis Red Sox around 1950-54. His grandchildren would be grateful for any information ,they are proud of the fact that he played for the Negro League.

Looking for information about Bill Gatewood, pitcher with several teams from about 1909 – 1927.He pitched a no-hitter while player-manager of 1926 Albany (Ga) Giants of the Negro Southern League. Also would like information on the Albany Giants and this 1926 "minor league". Teams played included Atlanta BlackCrackers, Chattanooga Black Lookouts, Birmingham Black Barons, a traveling team from the Royal Poinciana Hotel in Florida and a team of soldiers from Ft. Benning, Ga. Research that I've done has been from the local newspaper.

I am puzzled my grandfather was battery mate to Sachtel Paige, however, I cannot find any information on him. His name was Andy Anderson, he played for the Monarchs, Lookouts, Syracuse Black Chiefs in Syracuse, New York. I have search for years trying to locate some information about his days with the Negro League. I am sure there must be some information out there or someone that has heard of Andy Anderson. He was born in Philadelphia December 16, 1900. He died July 24, 1989 in Syracuse. Dick Simone and the Syracuse Chiefs knew him well.
I am his only grandchild, however, he has 5 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
Someone help me please find out some information about my grandfather. Thank you.

Have you looked in James Riley's Biographical Encyclopedia of Negro League Baseball or the SABR Negro Leagues book? Each of these books contains numerous accounts of players.

Looking for information on a player by the name of "Lovie" Robb. Think he played for Kansas City but lives in Gary, Indiana now. Probably one of the oldest players out there. Was a pitcher but I have lost track of him lately. I am trying to help some of the other Negro League players in the area get together. ANY help is appreciated!
