I'm sorry–I didn't initially see your response to my query. So Kaiser raced Owens? Do you know what the outcome of this race was?
With all of the incredibly fast men playing Negro Leagues ball at the time, I'm surprised a little-known pitcher would be the guy to race Owens. Bill Wright, Jerry Benjamin, Henry Milton, Fats Jenkins, Jelly Gardner, Sam Jethroe, Eddie Dwight (and Spot Poles and Jimmy Lyons from an earlier era) would have made for a memorable race…
