I was wondering if the majority of umpires for Negro League games were black/african-americans? I am refering to the umpires used for official league games.
When teams barnstormed, I would assume that different umpires would be used depending on where the game was played. Is this a fair assumption?
How many umpires would be used for an "official" Negro League game? One?
Any related information would be appreciated.

Usually 2 umps were used, but many times, esp. when barnstorming, there was only 1. Most were black, but there were whites, too. The Newark Eagles had their own ump, a white, who traveled with the team when it was on the road.
