Today I met Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe and was fortunate enough to get his autograph. He was at a card show in Massachusetts. He was very talkative and very kind. I wish I had more time to talk with him about baseball.

I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Radcliffe on two occassions and he was friendly and talkative in both instances. I had a picture taken with him on our first meeting and obtained an autograph on his biography the second time. He still considers himself a "ladies man" and is quite the flirt.
Courtney, it is good that you were able to meet him. He is getting up there in age and I wonder how much longer he will be able to keep up his busy travel and appearance schedule. Let's hope it is for a long time.

Former Negro League baseball star Ted "Double Duty" Radcliffe, 97, recently underwent treatment for a bleeding ulcer and received two blood transfusions at Michael Reese Hospital. He was readmitted seven days later after suffering a mild stroke. More than 2,000 school children
from New York, Detroit, St. Paul and Chicago have sent Radcliffe "get well" cards. Some of them read: "Teddy stay in your beddy." Others
read: "Get well soon; hospital food is nasty." Claire Hilstrom, the agent for Radcliffe and other former Negro league stars, accepted the
"Grand Old Man Award" on Radcliffe's behalf Monday night at the White Eagle in Niles. Former Tribune baseball writer Jerome Holtzman presented
the award.
