Turkey Stearnes Tops List For Hall Of Fame Nomination

The Negro Leagues may well have one more representative in baseball’s Hall of Fame after the 15-member Veterans Committee meets on Tuesday. Conventional wisdom has Turkey Stearnes, hot hitting star outfielder for the Detroit Stars and Chicago American Giants during the 1920s and ’30s, as a leading candidate for election.
