Robert Bissant Has Passed Away In New Orleans
Negro League star victimized by lung cancer.

NEW ORLEANS–A member of the original Zulu Cannibal Giants and a star with more than a half-dozen other Negro League teams, Robert "Bob" Bissant has passed away at age 85. A victim of lung cancer, Bissant died August 15th in New Orleans.
Bissant’s long and colorful career in Negro League baseball began in 1935 as an infielder with the Zulu Cannibal Giants and included seasons with such teams as the Miami Ethiopian Clowns, Nashville Cubs and New Orleans Black Pelicans.
