DETROIT–A Negro League Baseball Dot Com reader has reported to us the passing of Frank Duncan, III. in Detroit. Raised in a baseball family, Duncan began his professional career in 1940 with the Kansas City Monarchs where he played together with his father, legendary Monarchs catcher Frank Duncan, Jr. Duncan’s career was interrupted in 1942 by military service in World War II.

Returning to baseball in 1944 Duncan played several seasons with the Baltimore Elite Giants before signing a minor league contract in 1956 with the San Angelo Colts of the West Texas-New Mexico League. Duncan retired from baseball after spending the 1957 season with Cordoba in the Mexican League.

Funeral services have been set for Saturday, October 9th at 9:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit. The church is located at 6125 Beechwood Street.
